Glen Orden yet to bat V Hoppers Crossing 10/66 of 23.3 overs

Round 2 saw Glen Orden winning the toss and deciding to field. From the very first over things were really happening for the Orden.
A. Mak snared a wicket in the first over of the day, then backed up by some great fielding by all the boys, the wickets started to fall. 1 for 1 became 2 for 8 then 3 for 18 then 4 for 23 then 5 for 28. In stepped Brandon Reid to bowl the 12th over of the match, before drinks, and with the second last ball of his over, running back with the flight of the ball , took an absolute spectacular catch and very nearly ripped his own leg off. So at drinks Hoppers were struggling at 6 for 36.
After the drink break was quite the same for the Hoppers batters, with wickets falling at a steady pace, until the last batsman was dismissed with 4 balls left in the days play. 23.2 overs Hoppers all out for 66.
Individual Efforts: A Mak 2/2 of 3 overs plus a catch, B. Reid 1/2 of 2 overs plus a catch, K. Collisson 2/3 of 2 overs, J.Henderson 2/7 of 2 overs, J. Stemm 1/9 of 2 overs, J. Grindlay 1/7 of 2 overs.
Our extras were 43 so we still have lots to work on. We will bat next week looking for the 67 runs we need to win.

19th October 2007

Footscray ANA 4/62 V Glen Orden 3/97 of 24 overs

Glen Orden ventured back to Footscray to defend there last weekends total. The day started terribly with Footscray really making the most of early bad bowling and some terrible fielding to be 1 for 49 off there first 12 overs. After a little talking to Glen Orden came alive and in the last 12 overs only conceded 13 runs. We ran away easy winners with Footscray finishing the day on 4 for 62.

Great Bowling from B. Reid 2 for 5 off 3 overs, J. Grindlay 1 for 5 off 2 overs and K. Collinson 1 for 6 off 2 overs.

12th October 2007

Footscray ANA V Glen Orden 3/97 of 24 overs

This day saw the start of the U/11's cricket season, playing our first game away at Footscray ANA, the day started badly with Footscray deciding to bowl on a ground with grass longer than a wheat field. Losing the toss was about the only thing that went wrong for the rest of the afternoon, as Glen Orden set about building up a big target for Footscray to chase. At the end of play glen Orden had read 3 for 97.

Great batting display from opening batsman/wicket keeper J. Edwards, who was run out on 17, but did a terrific job batting though the innings, with a few new players. A. Mak and J. Henderson both batted weel for there 8 runs. The sundries were the top score with 58 extras.
